Makers' gate
Old Oak Scruff Redevelopment Proposal - London, England
Summer 2017
This conceptual project proposed a redevelopment plan for the Old Oak Scruff District in London, England. The key of the propsal was the Makers' Gate. The Makers' Gate is located in a new neighborhood developed over the existing rail yard and depot. The station and market building will be a gateway to the area for both travelers and locals. Maker’s Gate will be home to an artisans' market hall and the combined HS2/Crossrail station, as well as a rooftop urban farm and a plaza hosting a makers' market. Makers’ Gate will express the creative character of the area and be a key component in the success of the mobility plan, connecting the entire site to the rest of the region.
The original station mock up connects two platforms bridging connections between HS2 and Crossrail. This straddling of the rails brought an opportunity to engage transient passengers with the local community.
